78. On Staring or Looking Someone Straight in the Eye

People want to keep on staring at the Buddha, never letting up their gaze.
They behave like you Westerners. Your eyes tend to fixate when you look at someoneóyou stare unblinkingly. [Editorís note: Westerners might consider it polite to look directly at a person when addressing him or her, but Asians generally consider it impolite to stare directly at another personís face.]
